Adding and subtracting tens to a double-digit number requires lots of practice for students. Since this skill generally comes in the winter time for second grade, I want to share with you a fun and quick Snowman Math activity that I made for students to practice!
This activity is fun because students get to draw and solve math problems. Simply give students a die, markers or colored pencils and a Snowman Math activity sheet (free printable below).
Students can play in partners or independently. They take turns drawing the snowman body, rolling the die to create a double-digit number, and then add or subtract 10 from that number. You can see a quick video of how to play here.
This activity can be adapted for third grade by having students practice multiplying a two-digit number by 10, or adapted for first grade by having students roll a two-digit number and add one more or subtract one. There are so many possibilities and I would love for you to comment and let me know how you use this activity!
If you want to have students play multiple rounds, simply slip this activity into a dry erase pocket for extra practice!

I love this cute idea of incorporating snowmen into a lesson. That is something kids relate back to and can make the lesson very fun and interesting for the students.
