Description
Sight word swat, or in this case SHOO FLY SWAT, is a fun sight word game that gets students moving! Students use fly swatters and race to swat sight words that are called out by the “caller.” However, this game has a TWIST! If a “SHOO FLY” card is called, the student that swats that card first gets to take the “SHOO FLY” card, along with another card from the other team. You get to choose from two versions of Swat cards…one version has points on each card and the other version is without points. So,the team that either has the most cards swatted, or the greatest amount of points, wins!
If you don’t want to play with fly swatters, you can also make this a bean bag toss game (directions included).
This bundle includes ALL 220 Dolch Sight Words and can be played whole class or in small groups. Each set also comes in black and white in case you want to save ink!
This activity can be played all year long, since you can mix and match the SHOO FLY Swat cards from all DOLCH sight word lists. This is great for differentiating small group practice, too!
