Solve It Strips are a FUN, hands-on, puzzle-like, math extension activity that keeps students engaged! These can be used as a math center, an early-finisher activity, with a parent-led math group, or as a mini-assessment. Solve It Strips also make fun home practice, too!

This set of Solve It Strips focuses on completing patterns. There are four strips for ABAB patterns, four strips for ABB patterns, four strips for AABB patterns and three strips that are a mixed practice of the three pattern types.

Students are challenged to use their patterning skills in completing the patterns on each strip. Students begin with the “Start” strip and finish the pattern on that strip. That will lead them to the second strip, and so forth, until they end up with the solution for the “FINISH” strip. It is best to introduce this activity to little learners in a small, guided math group first, and then they are able to do it as an independent center activity. Two cover options are included for the Solve It Strips, along with easy directions for storage and an answer key!
