Description
This Quotation Marks Mini Unit is packed full of anchor charts, cooperative learning activities, independent quotation practice and fun extension activities! In this unit, students will have the opportunity to get moving, and take a hands-on approach in learning about quotations.
Included in this file:
-Anchor Charts for Display: Seven charts explaining the punctuation rules of quotations.
-“I Spy” Class Quotation Game: 20 different slides to display, where students break into teams and have to figure out if the quotation on the slide is correct/incorrect AND state the way to fix it (answer key).
-Quotation Activity Cards: Three different activity cards, in which students have to properly place the punctuation tiles in quotation sentences (Two versions of each card are included for some differentiation too!). A blank activity card is also included for students that are ready for an extra challenge!
-Class Quotation Match-Up Activity: I love this activity! Students get moving around the room, trying to make a quotation with their given part (different formats to choose from for this activity).
-Class Quotation Match-Up Book Page Extension: After the match-up, students participate in a class writing activity using their quotation.
-Class Book Cover: A template included, or you can make your own.
-Whiteboard Quotations: Another favorite! These are great for a warm-up activity. Use the punctuation pieces to have students come to the board to properly punctuate quotations (color and BW included).
-Don’t Bug Me! Sorting Game: Students are exposed to a variety of quotation sentences in this game. They have to determine if the quotations are in the correct or incorrect spot. Directions, sorting board, game tokens, tally chart and game cards all included!
-Quotation Bubble Four Square (Two templates to choose from): Students create dialogue for four bug characters, or they create their own characters on the blank template. These make a great bulletin board display!
-Quotation Quest: Two independent practice pages for students to properly punctuate and write their own quotations.
-“Instead of” Chart: LOVE THIS! This list is for students to keep in their Writer’s Workshop Folder. It has word choices for “said,” “asked,” and “exclaimed.” There are also blank spaces for students to add their own words.
-Quotation Flip Book: Directions and flip book activity.
