With Poetry Month right around the corner, I want to share with you one of our favorite writing activities…
Haiku poetry is a form of traditional Japanese poetry, consisting of three lines. Often Haiku poems use sensory language to express a thought or feeling about nature. Each line of the poem has a certain amount of syllables, keeping the poem short and simple.
This 3-D Spring Writing Activity includes a Haiku Introduction Page, as well as a Planning Page, to guide students through creating their own poems about something in nature.
Once students have completed and revised their rough draft, they can create the final draft on the 3-D earth template. Included are multiple templates to choose from. This activity can be used at any elementary grade level, since multiple templates are also included for an Earth Day writing activity.
