Goal-setting groups, or Goal Groups, are my favorite way to kick off the New Year! I love inspiring students to set their own goals and monitor their progress each month from January to June.
For Goal Groups, simply put students in groups of three or four students. Give them some goal-setting prompts or questions to discuss. Here are some examples of some that my students use (free printable below)…
After students meet in their Goal Groups, they independently journal their goals for the month. Then, the first Monday of each month (January-June) students meet in their Goal Groups to discuss their progress and set or modify any goals.
For the New Year, after students write in their journal, I give them these fun 3D Goal Hats to write down their goals. We display these all of the room and I love filling up our walls with student goals…so INSPIRING!
You can grab the Goal Groups discussion prompts HERE! I would love for you to let me know if you try out Goal Groups with your students!
